FALL FASHION FORECAST
In the world of fashion, September is the biggest month of the year. Whether you are a fashion enthusiast or someone who buys clothes only because society insists you can’t go naked, September is the perfect time to update your wardrobe. The fashion magazines are chock full of beautiful fall inspirations, and you could always attend Fashion Week in NYC. Or, keep reading here for some of this season’s “must have” items.
1. Dresses are back! And the good news here is that there is a huge variety of styles and shapes available. No matter what your particular body type, you will be able to find something that is flattering and comfortable. The greatest thing about a dress is that it’s SO EASY to wear. No mixing and matching with other pieces. No wondering “does this shirt go with this skirt?” or “do I wear a belt with these pants?” You just throw the dress on, add a pair of boots or shoes and you’re out the door! It’s that easy! If you are not sure what style works for your body type, look for a wrap dress similar to the one shown here. This style looks good on almost anyone.
2. Ruffles, zippers and lace. Ruffles and zipper embellishments are showing up everywhere; on dresses, blouses, T-shirts, jeans, shoes, handbags, hats and even jewelry! A little bit goes a long way here so don’t overdo it. Wear one item with ruffles at a time, for example. However, with lace you can layer it on. A white lace t-shirt with a black lace skirt and lace pumps – it’s a great look. If you want to update your look on a budget this fall pick up a couple of embellished items and you’ll be good to go.
3. Shoes with hardware. A fresh trend in shoes right now are shoes that have studs, jewels, sequins, grommets, zippers (as mentioned in #2) or other metal decorations. They might be boots, pumps, sling backs, flats, or anything, and the embellishment might be anywhere from the top of the toe to the back of the heel. This is a quick and fun way to update your look this fall!
4. Dark wash jeans. Whether you like them low-rise or high on the waist, a dark indigo jean is flattering because it makes you look smaller. The dark color is also a little dressier, so if you want to dress up without “dressing up”, you can put on your dark wash jeans with a blazer and be ready to go just about anywhere. GOOD NEWS: If you have curvy hips and a small waist, Levi’s Curve ID brand is made to accommodate you. They swear by their “no gap in the back” concept, so check them out wherever Levi’s are sold.
5. Bold, colorful jewelry. Accessories can make or break an outfit. And if you love autumn in New England because of its colorful display, you can let it show in your wardrobe! It’s also an inexpensive way to spruce up an outfit. If you wear a lot of black, try adding beautiful fall colored necklace or animal print bracelet to the mix and see what happens! You’ll feel great and probably receive many compliments. (P.S. Animal print accessories are also popular this season.)
These are just a few of the ways you can spruce up your look this Fall. Have fun shopping and and trying layering your new items with some things you already have. It’s the perfect solution on these early autumn days when you need a cardigan or blazer in the a.m., but by noon you’re sweating in the sun! Most of all, enjoy wearing your stylish new ensembles this fall. New England is fabulous and so are you!
